One of the Hohner President tenor saxophones that graces the gallery pages of my main site is up for auction on eBay at the moment.

When azouaous first emailed me about his Hohner President a few weeks ago, he didn’t tell me that he was planning on selling it. He just sent me an email asking if I would like some pictures for my gallery. I was really surprised to see his tenor come up for sale a couple of weeks later.
The eBay ad is in French, so here are 2 versions of it: the original, and the Google translated one.
I love this one. Google really needs a bit of help with its French to English translation of music words/meanings. 😀

If you’d like to learn more about these Max Keilwerth-designed saxophones, check out my Hohner President page. These horns are amazing pro horns that almost no one seems to know about. They are every bit as good as the J. Keilwerths of the same era.
The auction for this President tenor runs until August 8. At the time of writing there were 4 bids on the horn. The high bid was €36.50, which eBay estimates to be $ 48.26 US.
Hello Helen,This is the identical model of Hohner President tenor that I have .My number is 6168. The case is identical with the same green velvet lining and the locks and handle are also identical. But mine has been used more. My friend had the alto of this model . I am sad that I live in a country cut off from access to all the places from where you can buy the kind of sax you want I do have relatives in London and Germany so this year Iam hoping to get another Hohner from my contact in Germany But buying a sax without seeing and trying out is rather risky.BTW I found a small brochure of King Saxes in an old box at home .I would like to send you a copy if you are interested .I want to keep the original. All the best
Hi Kumar.
I’m sorry that it didn’t work out with Jaye from SOTW about getting a President from him. When I spoke to him and he told me the shipping to costs to Sri Lanka, I nearly chocked. I had no idea how expensive it would be. 😯
If you have relatives in London and Germany, that might be a better choice for you. Are the shipping costs possibly going to be cheaper as well?
Update: This Hohner saw a lot of action on eBay. By the time the dust settled, there were 33 bids on this Max Keilwerth vintage tenor. The winner paid EU 396.00, which eBay estimates to be approximately $509.37 US.
