Keilwerth Saxophone Group on Facebook

About three months ago, a fellow vintage sax player/JK lover and I started a Facebook group for Keilwerth saxophones. It was not intended to compete with the existing JK saxophone page that the company had on the social media platform already. Instead, it was designed to be a place where JK owners, would-be owners, and lovers of the brand could come and exchange ideas and gain insight into the horns they play and love.

We have a mix of player/owners ranging from young to old; novice to pro players with decades of experience; vintage and modern JK horn owners; and everything from soprano through bass players. The group is continually gaining new members, and has given me the opportunity to dig through my old files and find some interesting JK-related stuff that I have not included on my site before.

Personally, I am learning a lot from this Keilwerth FB group

I’ve also had the opportunity to expand my JK knowledge beyond the pro level horns I’ve researched for years. Case in point: Yesterday and today I did some research into the EX model that Keilwerth produced.

As is so often the case when doing research on the Net, I ended up down a rabbit hole and found some very strange things. One of the oddest things I found were knock-offs of EX model horns. Yup, you read that right. Some company in China is making fake intermediate model Keilwerth saxophones.

If you’re anything like me, you are likely asking yourself: Why? I guess the simple answer is: Because they sell. Sigh…

BTW, that’s just a teaser. More on fake JK horns coming in my next article in a couple of days.

If you own or play a Keilwerth saxophone, or if you love the brand, check us out on Facebook. Anyone can join the group. Anyone can participate in the group discussions. And while discussions are moderated when necessary, nothing needs approval before being posted.

I did put a few very common-sense rules in place when we founded the group. They are:

  1.  JK saxophones only.
Conversations are to be about Keilwerth saxophones, and all their various stencils, only. Asking if a sax is JK stencil is fine.
  2.  Anything related to JK saxes is an OK topic.
Want to talk about stock MPs? Great! Cases? Fantastic! Original screw driver sets? That’s fine too. Whatever you want that is related to Julius Keilwerth saxophones is open for discussion.
  3. Be Kind. Be courteous to each other. Thanks!
  4. No SPAM of any kind.
This is non-negatable and will result in an immediate ban.

Hope to see some of you good folks there!
