Update
These cases are discontinued. At this point I am leaving this post here as reference only.
Now here is something I wish would have been available almost 10 years ago: a bass saxophone case that fits vintage American horns. Unfortunately, no one was making replacement cases for vintage bass saxophones at the time.
You have to remember that in 2000 when I bought my bass, the only new bass saxes in production were made by Selmer, Keilwerth, & Orsi. Cheap, Asian-made bass saxophones—and their accoutrements—were still a few years away.
International Woodwind, of Hollywood California, is currently selling a really nice bass saxophone case, that will fit vintage American-style bass saxophones.

When I bought my bass from Paul Coats, it was before the current bass saxophone renaissance. I was one of the first people who went through the process of having to find a replacement case for their (then) 80 year old sax.
In the end, I chose to have a custom case built for my baby. I then outlined the process I went through on my website, and it has been there ever since. If a case like this would have been available however, I would have bought it in a heartbeat!
The auction for this IW bass saxophone case runs until January 26. The Buy It Now price is $1,195.00. At the time of writing, there were no offers on it yet.
Update: Well this nice replacement bass saxophone case found a new home. By the time the auction ended there were 3 bids on it, and the winning bid walked away with it at the very good price of $661.00. Good luck in finding something for that money anywhere else.
BTW, in case you lost out on this deal, and are looking for a replacement case for your bass, Steve Goodson is now also selling cases that look a lot like these. His prices are very close to what the Buy It Now price was this last time around.
Update: Guess what? The case is back on eBay… Again… This time the Buy It Now is $849. Bids start at $629.00. The auction ends on February 12. At the time of writing there were no bids yet on this very cool case.
Update: This case is back on eBay. This time the price is $995.00, and the auction ends on February 3. There was 1 offer on the case at the time of writing.
Update: This bass sax case appears not to have sold. By the time the auction ended, there was only 1 offer on the case. This actually surprises me, given how many players on the Bass Sax Co-op are always talking about needing new cases for their horns.
