So far for 2010 my Christmas collection has been pretty eclectic. It has included plastic toy figures from the 70s; a dancing, saxophone-playing flower from the 80s; interesting, vintage, toy saxophone-shaped musical instruments from the 40s and 50s; a reproduction poster originally circa the 20s; and let’s not forget that taxidermied frog of questionable vintage. (This last one was my personal favourite, just for its sheer sense of bizarreness.)
Today I thought I’d include a potential gift idea that might have more broad range appeal. This interesting abstract sculpture is very elegant, and would be as equally at home in a student’s dorm room, as it would be in an upscale neighbourhood… In other words, you wouldn’t have to run around the house trying to hide it when your neighbours come over unannounced, as you would have to if it were that taxidermied frog. 😉
The seller of the sculpture describes this artwork like this:
WELCOME TO
LAZY DAISY BOUTIQUE!
This is one of my favorite pieces in our inventory! It is a sleek, modern, abstract sculpture of a saxophone player in silver with pewter base. The curvature in the figure gives it movement. So beautiful and unique!

No word on its size. You have to contact the seller, and they’ll provide the information for you.
If you’re interested in this sculpture, the auction runs December 10. Lazy Daisy Boutique has 3 of these sax players available. The Buy It Now price is $64.95. They are also willing to entertain offers however.
Kinda looks like an exoitic hashish pipe… 😯
OK, I can kinda’ see it now that you say that. But Gandalfe, really… A hash pipe? What would ever make you think of that? 😈 😆
