What am I referring to? It am of course referring to ugly saxophone Christmas sweaters. Intelligent people are ordering them now for the best selection.
Not sure exactly when this phenomena of ugly Christmas sweater really got started. Depending on what references one reads, their history can be traced back to anyone from Grandma, and her ugly-ass knitted collections; to pop culture icons of the 80s: Dr. Huxtable in The Cosby Show, and of course Clark Griswold in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Then of course there are the fashion runways of Milan, and even books such as Ugly Christmas Sweater Book—a book that is full of ideas on how to throw an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.
Origins aside, the phenomena shows no signs of abating, and like millions of people around the world, I too have succumbed to the season that belongs to the Ugly Christmas Sweater. 😆
Truth be told, in our two-person, two-cat, one-rabbit household, we presently own 3 ugly-ass Christmas sweaters. All were ordered pre-COVID, and with the COVID lockdowns over the past couple of years, none have seen a lot of use.
This year we are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to spend our holidays with our friends and family again—since we are all quadruple vaxxed and will have had our flu shots by then as well. Given this, I thought it was time to order new ugly Christmas sweaters.
Mine are coming from Europe in the next while, so I will post pics when the arrive. But in the meantime, I thought it would be fun to take a look at what this year’s offerings in the ugly saxophone Christmas sweater department are. All I can say is wow! The Internet did not disappoint.
Tis the season: the 2022 offering of ugly saxophone Christmas sweaters are available now
FYI, most of these lovelies are available right now through Amazon. So if you want the best selection, you know what to do. 😉 Don’t delay. 😀
I still like the idea I posted in 2016 about making up your own ugly saxophone Christmas Sweater. I would encourage you to start early if you are going that route. The kitsch needed to adorn such a beauty might vanish before you know it. 🙄
