When the new owner of the very vintage Rampone & Cazzani tenor left a comment on my blog yesterday, I checked out the old eBay listing, and then also happened across this old-timer. I thought this sax was interesting enough to include here, because we don’t see many of these old guys around.

Up for sale is an unrestored vintage Rampone & Cazzani tenor, which is quite a bit newer than the one I mentioned a few weeks ago. This is how the current owner describes the sax:
I am offering for auction a very nice vintage Rampone & Cazzini Tenor Sax, SN 0272 in original silver plating. Nice old horn in need of complete restoration including pad, regulation, etc., typical of any vintage horn like this. This is a well respected Italian made horn with similar features to older Conns like rolled tone holes and a very similar left pinkie cluster to that of a 10M. I never had the time to get to this horn as I’m playing primarily guitar these days, so time to move out those projects I’ll likely never get to. Up until about 3 years ago I was a very active sax player and restorer of vintage woodwinds.
The condition of this horn is very good with around 80% of the original silver plating remaining. Everything is here and original, and I’m throwing in a B&S hard case from the 70s that is solid for shipment. The horn is straight and has a few dings and shallow dents. All of the tone holes are in good condition.

Thanks for looking,
