Ah yes, ’tis the holiday party season, which can only mean one thing: People the world over will be Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.

Although not depicted in this still, this little collection of animated saxophone players can literally be rockin’ around the Christmas tree. It has been suggested that I turn each of them on; create a sequence of photographs; and then use those shots to create an animated GIF file with music…
Sure, I’ll do that in all my spare time. 😉
I have been a bit preoccupied lately, with getting ready for my baritone sax performance later today. That hasn’t left me with time to do even the most basic things, let alone extras—like spend hours animating a GIF and setting it music. But hey, there’s always next year.
Getting back to our main theme of Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree…
Three years ago I wrote about Brenda Lee’s original version of this iconic Christmas song. The late, great Boots Randolph played the sax solo in the tune.
Well now there’s a brand new version of the song out, and its by 80s music star Kim Wilde. Although not as well-known on this side of the Atlantic, I am familiar with her music from when I lived in Germany. Truth be told, I still have a cassette tape or two of hers in my collection.
It seems that in 2012 Wilde found herself on-board a train after an especially happy holiday party. As she sang a couple of her most famous songs for the couch-full of passengers, the camera phones were all set to video mode.
I’m sure many of us have found ourselves in similar situations, but since we’re not as famous as Kim Wilde, our escapades weren’t uploaded to YouTube for the world to see 2 million + times. 😳
Nearly a year later Wilde released her new video for Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, which pokes not subtle fun at this alcohol-influenced train ride… Right down to the reindeer antlers.
