In 2013, Buffet Crampon rejuvenated its saxophone legacy by harnessing computer technology to leverage its mastery of design and craftsmanship to produce the most advanced alto saxophone to bear the Buffet Crampon moniker: the all-new flagship Senzo alto saxophone. Aimed squarely at the top of the professional tier, Buffet embarked upon a cost-no-object mission to establish the Senzo as the benchmark for the classic Adolphe Sax sound.

With CAD/CAM, components are produced with impeccable precision and consistency, while final assembly and testing performed by master craftsmen completes each saxophone with the utmost refinement. Senzo, which means ancestor in Japanese, pays homage to Buffet's impressive S3 Prestige, the preceding ancestral horn. Guided by computer modeling, Buffet modernized the acoustic properties of the S3 with several significant geometric changes. The bow is larger, the body is longer, and the neck is downsized. The tone holes were relocated for precise pitch, with keys repositioned accordingly for supple action and set to more accurate heights. With their acquisition of Keilwerth, Buffet Crampon merged the capabilities of both operations, sending bare chassis to Germany where the keys, rods, and posts are manufactured and attached to form the sub-assemblies, which are then sent to Montes-la-Ville, just west of Paris, for final integration. In France, the handmade bell is attached, the finish is applied, and each Senzo is thoroughly performance tested. The resulting instrument has exceptional intonation stability and balance across all registers, a horn with a signature voice that is recreated consistently in every Senzo built.
