This is one of the most beautiful and perftect Conn altos that I have ever seen. It’s basically a 10/10 in all categories. No past damage, no repairs, original super-thick gold plate. Burnished gold is hand-applied, and it is much thicker and much rarer than regular thin, matte gold plate. The hand-engraved portrait on the bell shows a level of artistry very rarely seen in saxophone engraving. Everything about the portrait is done artistically and with unusual care and precision. As a player, this horn is a real powerhouse. The New Wonder II altos are some of the best playing altos ever made. They have a huge, warm, powerful voice that is very pleasant to listen to. Nothing brash about them, but they are just vibrating with life to play. Made in the golden age of Conn manufacturing, they are also among the best built saxophones of all time, which makes them dependable and easy to maintain. This horn has a mix of older and newer pads, and it plays well with a fresh setup done by another dealer. If you are looking for a vintage Conn alto that is the best that I can be, look no further. If you want to get a matching burnished gold alto and soprano pair, I have a rare soprano just like this at present! (And I have the matching tenor also, but it’s pretty expensive, so email for price on that.) This includes the beautiful original case also in great condition. Get it now. Only one available.
