Why this particular Royal saxopone by WERO has a lacquer neck is hard difficult to say. It may have been refinished at some point, or possibly replaced. It does however, appear to be an original WERO neck, when you compare it to Royal alto 2256 that I have in this gallery.

This also has rolled tone holes, G# and a high D/D# trill key, and key guards which resemble those of the Hohner President. It also has a vented F key, which could easily be mistaken for a fork Eb, since it is located in the same place. (Thanks to Mark Wiseman from The Little Sax Shop, for pointing out that's what the key was!)
