Source: A friend of Bassic Sax

(Helen) A few years ago someone sent me photos of this extremely old Keilwerth sax. What is it? I couldn't tell you.

I am speculating that it is a stencil due to its lack of engraving. It bears absolutely no similarity to the King Imperial that was [presumably] made by Keilwerth, but which has eyebrow key guards.

Note the logo on the back. It says: "THE BEST OF WORLD"

That is different than what we normally see that says: "THE BEST IN THE WORLD"

That said, I am seeing other horns in our stencil gallery with the same "THE BEST OF WORLD" lettering. I'm thinking this is worth some research and perhaps an article. Maybe their early stencils were stamped this way? I can also think of some other explanations, so a deeper dive into this appears to be in order.

In the meantime, I will put this Imperial into the stencil category, since many other manufacturers made stencilled Imperial horns--including D&J.
